Fog lights are those things that rarely needs to be changed, simply because they last so long. When they are needed, they are quite handy because they do a good job in lighting the road, especially in snow or when it is raining at night. But there comes a time when you flip the switch and nothing happens—it's quite likely a burnt bulb. Maybe you may want to change the bulb to a more powerful unit for even more light, especially when you have to keep having to turn your lights when an oncoming vehicle has bad manners and leaves his lights on high. Thankfully, changing fog light bulbs, or to regular bulbs, are easy to change that you can do yourself.

Materials Needed

  • Replacement fog light bulbs
  • Flat head screwdriver (optional)

Step 1 – Remove the factory bulb

To change the stock bulb, all you have to do is hold the housing on each side and pull it out with your hands. You can also use a screwdriver to pry each side out. Then you can pull the bulb straight out of the housing, and remove the wiring harness.

Step 2 – Install new fog light bulb

To reverse the procedure, simply insert a new bulb into the socket and attach the wiring behind the bulb. Make sure the bulb is securely fastened. Then, make sure the three round tabs on the back of the housing go straight into the tab holes. Once the housing clicks into position, you may want to to test the new bulb by turning the fog lights on and off.
