why cant i find a cold air intake for a 97 2.2, only the 2.4 seems to be available. Will the 98 2.2 cold air intake work on the 97? what are the differences if not?

95-02 had two different 2.2L engines
one was the 2.2 OHV and one was the 2200 SFI
are you looking for an AEM CAI or just any CAI off ebay?
The short ones will work for most any 2.2 if it says 2.2 no matter what year. Also, there is no real noticable difference between the AEM and the $30 knock-off ones.

if it was me i wouldnt waste money on one
unless you are gonna isolate the hot air from the engine from getting into the "cold air intake"
do something unique
take out the turn signal on the lower part and run some pipe down to that
that way it is fresh air from out side and not HOT engine air

beckeruti - a true CAI pulls the air from the stock location in the dirver side fender well, but no matter where the air is pulled from it will heat up traveling thru the engine bay and into the TB. So no matter where the air comes from it gets hotter. There is no noticable difference from pulling the air form the wheel well and the engine bay. There may be a .5-1hp diff but you wont notice it
