It could be a couple of things. You could have a restriction in the heater core, or a bad heater water valve or the engine may not be running hot enough to sustain a hot airflow through the heater.

The heater control valve is vacuum actuated (spring loaded closed/vacuum open), if there is a leak in the vacuum line(s) or a defective valve the flow of coolant will stop when the engine vacuum is reduced like during acceleration. This is a very common problem and not too costly to have diagnosed and repaired.
