I have a 1995 K1500 with 183,000 miles on it and after its shut off there is a strong gas smell like its leaking. I've checked everywhere and cannot find any fuel leaks. It doesn't run bad or hesitate. It had a miss in it but I changed the plugs and wires and it hasn't done it since. I'm lost, any suggestions.

With this TBI motor if you are smelling gasoline you have a problem somewhere. Check the fuel lines around the motor and into the TBI unit to see if they are leaking but the hot motor is evaporating it off before it reaches the ground. How is it to start, does it require a long crank before it lights off. or is it nearly instant?

It does take a long time before it fires up. It cranks for quite a while before it starts. I guess I'll have to start it and check lines.

Ok I've checked the fuel lines from the tank to the TBI...I cannot find a leak anywhere. With it being hard to start and the fuel smell after its shut off could the injectors be bleeding off???? That would explain the hard to start (takes a little bit to pump the injectors full again) and the smell of gas. It has 183,000 miles on it and they are the original injectors. (I think) Is it reasonable to assume that they are wore out and need replaced??

I suspect the same thing that you do. Run about five or six bottles of Chevron Fuel Injector Cleaner thru one tank of gas or have the dealer use their professional fuel system cleaner on it, the two large TBI fuel injectors don't clog easily and when they do they are normally easy to unclog. If this doesn't do the job i would throw a new set of injectors in.
