Hi, I just bought a 2000 gmc with a 454 ,and 51,000 miles. It needed a tune-up I thought! Turns out the cam gear is worn terribly and allowed up to 20 degrees of retardment from the computer, to make it run. I can't really see the cam gear to inspect it, is it possible that it is ok? Is the dist. gear made of softer metal than the cam?
