Hi! Trading my F-150 and I want to go used and was thinking of an 04-05 Monte Carlo. Would you recommend them? What are your personal experiences with these cars? I like the 3.4 but would I be retarded if I DIDN'T go for the SS? They're fwd so I assume they are okay in the snow...anybody not agree? Thanks for your help and catch you later - I'm heading for my local CHEVY dealer!! jim

Yes, definately. It's a very reliable and economical car, along with looking cool. I have a 2001 LS with the 3.4 and it seems plenty fast to me. The mileage is excellent and I have read that it is far more reliable than the 3.8. On highway trips, going about 75-80, I actually get 31 mpg, and in the city (and I do mean in the city, not the suburbs) I get 21 in the summer and 19 in the winter. Not bad for such a roomy, smooth, ride. During snow the FWD and traction control turn it into a snow bunny. I have never even gotten remotely stuck and have beaten many an SUV up snowy hills. I am not exagerrating. FWD is just so much more suitable for every day driving. RWD only makes sense on the race track. This is my favorite car out of all the different types that I have owned. I never planned on owning one. I reluctantly got one at a car rental place at the airport in 2001. It was not something I would have normally rented but it was all that was left. I was floored at how much I liked driving it. Two weeks later, I bought one. This car makes me feel content. I don't even desire another car. First time in my life. Dave Arlington, Virginia
