i have a 1994 K 1500 suburban with the 5.7 engine, with 225K on it, but runs well. I want to swap it out with a 5.7 out of a 2004 tahoe with 17 miles on it. I found one in the salvage yard for $1800. How much modding would I have to do to have it run correctly? Or can anyone give me a rough estimate on having my old engine overhauled? I really love my truck and want it to run like new!

you could probley do the swapas long as you made sure to get all the wiring as well as the computer with the new motor so that everything is the same as it came out of the scrap truck. you could also get a crate motor for aroud the same price i think might be worth cheaking out anyway. hope this helps a bit

Thanks. Can you recomend a site or place to research the crate motors. Because the scrap yard doesnt have the wires or computer. Thanks again

Nomad, I''m also looking into replacing my 5.7L for 99'' burb. Its burning oil pretty fast. Do you have website info for crate motors.
