Should the DVD Navigation radio be making noises even when the ignition is off? It sounds like it's trying to read the DVD disc. This is with the engine off and no key in the ignition. Is this normal? I'm concerned about wearing down the battery. Just finished upgrading my 6-disc Bose radio to DVD/Nav HU. GPS took a while to start working and I still need to hook up the VSS wire. I'm waiting on the interface cable that will address that issue as well as enable the voice recognition and voice prompts. Anybody else have their HU unit running in the background 24/7 ??

The noise from the Nav DVD is normal, it will begin reading data as soon as the driver door is open so that the map data is loaded by the time you take off, if you don't start the vehicle the noise will stop after about 3 minutes.

Zim,

I have the factory rear dvd and no nav unit in my 07 tahoe. I want to upgrade to the nagivation unit. Where did you get yours? What did you pay? Any information would be great. Thanks.

I found my 200t Nav/DVD HU on eBay. It was from a parts dealer in AZ who gets them from GM trucks that are being shipped overseas where the NAV won't work. It ran me $1030.00 with shipping. Keep checking the auction sites and you'll see them.

about that popping noise... i used to hear the same thing in my 04 Z-71 Tahoe when i opened the door... I think when you open the door it powers on the amp... and the popping is the power being sent to the speakers... i dont know how loud the popping noise is in your tahoe... but if it is really loud... or gets louder i would take it to the dealer...

I agree

My Bose Amp was bad on my new 04 LT, it made an electrical buzzing & popping noise when 1st entered for the day, replaced under warranty, amp is under the front seat console ...
