you will have to look at the trunk seal and also in the little side pockets in the trunk to see if there are any holes there that should get you started.

I sealed up some things i thought might be causing the problem, the car hasnt moved for over a week now and somehow the water is still getting in, its a very minimal amount, but it adds up... i THINK it might be coming from the trunk lid where the "luggage rack" bolts to the lid.. any thoughts on that?

I have a 91 Euro and i have the same problem. I thought it was coming from the mounting bolts for the spoiler so i siliconed those and it steal leaks. Soo im in th esame boat as you. You may want to try, when you open the trunk there is that trough that goes all the way aroudn where the seal is, towards the front of the car near the bottom of the window there is a body seam where the roof panel meets the rear quarter. Make sure the seal there is good, the filler in mine was cracked so i fixed it, that may be where your leak is coming from.

I had the same problem with my 92 Euro. I traced the problem to the welding joints around the outside of the trunk. They had cracked and let in a lot of water any time it rained. I put some silicone caulk on it, and my trunk has been bone dry for 2 years now.
