I have been having trouble with my power steering on my Lumina. I put power steering fluid in and i go back 3 days later and it won''t steer, it''s like the steering wheel is locked up. So i check the power steering fluid and sure enough it is all gone. I suppose it is leaking but can anyone help me with this problem. Like give me some info on what to do to check for the leak or tell me what i need to replace on the car.

Its sounds like u might have a small leak in one of the power steering lines, or u blew out a seal in the power steering rack. The hoses will be easy to replace, but the rack itself might suck. I think u have to drop the exhaust to replace the rack. Let it sit on concrete for a day or so or run the steering wheel back and forth on concrete and see if it leaks. If it does just check on the car above the leak and go from there.

I had it looked at today by a guy at the auto parts store, he also has a car service center. anyways he said my power steering pump has gone bad and that the power steering fluid has leaked out on my belt and almost ate it into. so now i have to have the pump replaced and the belt also. they said with labor and everything it should run me anywhere from $130.00 to $150.00 i guess it could have been worst.
