I need to know the horse power for the 5.3 liter v8. I have heard it was 340 but not sure. Thanks for any advice

not even close. the earliest models 99-01? had something like 270hp, 01?-03 had 285hp 04-07classics had 295hp, 05-07 classics with the alum. motor had 310hp, 07-08 NBS have 315hp. the vortec max 6.0 had 345hp in the 06 body style and 367hp in the 07-08 body style. this is at the crank. 4x4 assume about a 20% loss to the wheels.

289 hp 2000 5.3 vortec.

the research i have come up with is that 2000-2003 5.3, have 285hp, 04 an up have 295. looks like 99 was the only year they had a pathetic 270hp.

Thats b/c the 99 5.3 was a quarter big rig. rattle, rattle , piston slap, rattle.
