I''ve just bought a 2006 Impala.  Really like the car - had a 2001 Impala before this one.

The power seats are giving me a bit of a problem.  It''s got 8-way power controls, but the rear position on the horizontal control doesn''t seem to work.  The front of the seat goes up and down, but the rear stays still.  I''m 6'' so I''m feeling a bit close to the ceiling and can''t get settled in.  Is this a fuse, a motor, or something else?  Many thanks for any help here!  Paul.....

Thanks hotsauce - unfortunately it was a private sale so that won''t work in this case.  It was a shorter guy that owned it and it was a good height for him.

the problem will be either the switch, the motor, or the wiring under the seat

I just had this fixed at the dealer.  Looks like a design flaw.  The motor moves a threaded rod that moves the seat.  There was a problem with the ''stop'' that was at the base of the threaded rod so that the seat could move too far and leave the guide.  Their solution was to install a new ''stop'' (which is basically 2 washers) on the threaded rod.  Cost = $120.
