I just went to a mechanic today because i noticed what i thought was oil on my alternator and around my belt. i sat there for an hour and he told me that i had no oil leak but, my water pump was leaking profusely. Is there anything that i can check to make sure he isn''t trying to rip me off. it doesn''t make sense because i drove to Delaware (8 hrs there and back) yesterday and i drove it all day today and it never over heated. i just want to make sure he didn''t do anything to make it look like my water pump is bad.

I changed the water pump on my 05 impalla here the other day. It was very inexpencive. Only took about 30 mins. Easy on these if ya wana know I can walk though it for you.

clean the area so its dry.
check level in radiator- and overflow bottle.
drive around.
then use a white napking to dry off any stuff that appears... the color and smell can tell you what it is.
