Hey CF, I''''m new here. OK, here goes I have a 1989 Cheyenne 2wd shortbox w/ 350(orig 6cyl). It cranks from a cold start with no problem and runs great, but if I shut it off to run in the store it will not start when I try to start it. It cranks, sounds like it will turn over then that''s it...nothing. If I let it sit for an hour or so it will fire right up and run fine again. Any help is appreciated. Mike

It might be hydrolock. I have a similar problem with my 1994 Van. When I turn the key, it just makes a "chunk" sound. Sometimes it can be jumpstartedsometimes it cannot. I would ask someone about it before its too late like my van is.

The obvious answer is the choke. The other thing you may want to look at on a high mileage engine is the valves-run a compression test.
