Hello everyone. I am needing to find out what rear end ratio I have in my Astro. I need to know how much it can tow. I can''t find the RPO codes. I looked in the glove box, under the hood, and where the jack is kept. Does anyone know where to find these codes or know how I can positively identify what the ratio is? I tried to look at the passenger side housing on the rear for a code like most GM rears and can''t find a code. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The rpo codes location depemds on the year of the van.Try( because you didn''t say what yr you have)on the passenger side pillar. As far as towing goes,I have been involved with a web site about Astro''s for two yrs and the common opinion is the best rearend gear is 4.10 which is rare stock. The RPO code of G80 is a posti rearend.

1Gary, Thanks for the reply. My van is a ''98. Now when you say passenger side pillar are you saying it is under the pillar cover? Would this be the pillar at the windshield or between the doors? According to my owner''s manual my Astro could have one of three different rear ratios. A 3.23, 3.42, or a 3.73. I can tell that by the way it drives that I am sure it isn''t a 3.73. But I could be wrong. Anyway any help would be appreciated.
