Anyone living in the west of Washington DC (Chatilly area) ever find a dealership to get a GM radio reprogrammed for your vehicle?

I purchased a GM/Delco radio from a wrecked 06 Cobalt to replace the current non MP3 radio in my 06 Cobalt and so far the places I called seem to have ZERO knowledge of the idea of unlocking radios.

Or....

Can one just swap the actual cd portion from one radio to another or does main board of the radio control if it plays mp3s or not?

Need to change the whole radio....different software\processor
Programming these radios is VERY easy

When you install the radio, itwill say calibrate on the screen. The dealer simply needs to use the Tech2 and do a radio setup. there will be 2 options for the radio. UQ3 option(premium pioneer speaker package), or UQ4(base speaker package), you''ll find the info on the underside of the spare tire cover in the trunk. once those are set, turn the key off, open the door(to turn off the RAP system), and turn key back on. Calibration will no longer be seen, andthe radio will work. If the sound is too low or too loud(usually can tell by the volume of the chimes), then the dealer needs to program the radio using SPS programming using the Tech2 and TIS2WEB and select the proper speaker package as outlined above.
