4 Wheel drive question

obfirefighter22 -> 4 Wheel drive question (6/30/2008 7:44:53 AM)

Ight what I got for yall is a question that hasn''t been really bothering me but just curious really. About a month ago I was driving really slow as I was talking to one of my dads friends that was walking(I was leaving the neighborhood and slowed down to talk) well as this is going on he asked me if I was in 4 wheel drive, I said no. Well he swears up and down my front driveshaft(if that''s what you call it) was turning... I blew it of but was just wondering if this could have actually been happening or possibly still is happening? I had and always have my truck in 2, not the automatic 4 wheel, so I dont see how this would be happening.

maybe your dads friend is on drugs lol but it should not be turning unless your in 4x4 or auto 4x4

i may be on drugs to on this one
but mine on my 96 and now on my 07 NBS are spinning as i drive
i know that for sure cause when i got it in Normal 2 wheel drive.
i had the front wheels off the ground and spun the tire and the shaft moved
i was painting the rotors and what not and did paint the shafts as well.

the only time the shafts didnt move was on my 76 with the locking diffs.
on the outter shafts
but in 2 wheel drive on the newer axels with out the locking diffs they always turn.

yea Speedy''s right on that one.  I always thought that the front driveshaft turned all the time.

Some axels are different.  I don''t know what year your in but on some trucks, your not engaging the transfer case, your engaging the front differential.

I''m pretty sure mine spins all the time as well.  I don''t think there is a problem there..... may be wrong though...
