I wanted to recharge/refill my A/C refrigerant and wanted to know if there is a difference in the nozzle connector for the low pressure valve between the R-12 and R-134a thus preventing a mix up of the different refrigerants or are the nozzles the same and the only way to recharge/refill is to have a shop do it or use a conversion kit? What has me wondering is that the A/C compressor on the truck right now is not the OEM part, I could tell cause the sticker on the A/C compressor states is a Reman, this would lead me to believe that it might have been replaced for a A/C compressor that works with R-134a refrigerant.

Adding gas is a very dangerous job if you do it wrong, do not sound like you are up to school on this, in addition, ac parts are very expensive. Just my 2 cents!!! I would have a prof AC tech do the work, as it leaked down, it must have a leak in system that must be found and corrected or you will be adding gas next week. Good luck and stay safe, ride cool
