I haven''t driven my ''07 Silverado much since I bought it, I have a small Buick as a daily driver.  I mostly use the truck to tow our trailer loaded with atv''s.  It pulls really well, has good power, but is no better for mpg then my ''03 Suburban, running about 14mpg on average.  Well finally went on a trip without towing the trailer, about 700 miles.  It averaged 18mpg with one 150 mile stretch averaging 20mpg.  That made me happy.  It''s just strange how my old ''burb did just as well towing as it was 4wd and my new ''07 truck is only a 2wd.  Will say this, power is good.  Don''t think that anyone looking at an ''08 is gonna see any difference in mpg or power, nothing has been changed, at least on the gasoline powered trucks.

In late 08, the 09 hybrids are supposed to come out with a projected 40% increase in economy.

Are ya"ll using the onboard computer for these figures? It''''s been my experience that these are about as accurate as throwin a rock in the dark with your eyes closed. My Dodge Ram 3500 computer shows an average of 34 - 38 mpg. It actually gets 20 average.

rstank, i''ve seen this many times and i know exactly what your problem is..... ITS A DODGE!!!  It''s not even considered a truck, pretty much a rollin box of junk lol

Actually, Chevy''s website is listing the Hydbrid at starting only $4-5 more than the ltz (at $50,500) and comes with alot of the same stuff as the ltz, I''d say its atleast 90% of an LTZ bone stock. But the dealers jack the price up since theyre new, I dont see many options for it. Here what I see as options:

entertainment system
sunroof
engine block heater
max trailering package

It comes with the 6.0L and the mileage on the website is showin is 21/22 for a 2WD and 20/20 for a 4x4, while the only comparable other engine (the 6.2L) is estimated at 12/19

I''m new to the forum myself and have an 02 with a 5.3L. I put on a Flowmaster 40 series delta flow dual outlet, poweraid tb spacer and a Granetelli Motorsports cold air intake with a K&N filter(the one that GS sends is crap). I''ve been getting between 15-16 in town and around 21-22 on the highway with a/c mind you.

2008 Chevy 2500HD LTZ with 3.73 gears. Has about 2200 miles on it and was getting about 12.5/14.0 when driving like Ms. Daisy. However, I put the Airaid cold air intake and performance tuned it with the Superchips Cortex and this has increased it to 14.5/17.0. The performance has really took a turn for the better and it seems to really enjoy the programming. Throttle response is alot better.

I read today on the internet (do not remember what site; was doing a search) that for 2009 GM will make available as an option a 6-speed automatic transmission.  The 4-speed automatic will continue to be standard.

Any idea what a 6-speed will to to a 5.3L and a 6.0L V8 as far as mileage is concerned?
