hey guys ive been looking around in hopes of getting better mpg as well, and as many of you, I''m a truck lover and couldn''t imagine getting rid of my truck or parking it to only turn around and spend money on buying a car. I have a 2007 silverado crew cab with a 6inch lift and 35''s, I have the 5.3L V-8. As far as ive read the K&N air intake system, exhaust system, and programmer seem to help out the most along with driving right... I have the K&N, true duals, and hypertech III, and I still seem to not get that great of gas milage(even knowing its not going to be the best considering I drive a lifted truck). The other day I started trying to lay into the throttle as always, and I started to get about 16 on the highway driving like a grandmaw, and about 14 to 13 in the city.. What I''m wondering is, is there anyother upgrades at all that I can buy that any of you know first hand that will help my mpg out enough to notice atleast? I was talking to a mechanic that has a 2000 silverado and he was metioning a eldelbrock some system that helped him out about 10mpg... Didnt really grasp or remember what the he''ll he was talking about. But none the less, I just wanna know of anything else that I can add in an attempt to help my gas get me alittle further. I have yet another birthday coming up and my fiance is asking what I want so I figured this might be a good birthday gift(whatever it is)

A 10 mpg increase would be, in a word, RIDICULOUS. I doubt VERY highly that its a 10 mpg increase.

you might want to try headers..... Edelbrock makes headers... maybe that''s what he was talking about? I don''t think they would give you 10 MPG though

think the only way your gonna get 10MPG better is rip out the motor and put a 4 banger in it.

I got a 2002 z71 extended cab, with offset torsion bars, and i got grill/toolbox, and am running 285/75/16 aggressive A/t''s. im getting 12-14 city and 16 highway. i got the $55 K&N filter that goes in your stock box, and a super 40 single in dual out flowmaster. did tune up, all new plugs, and wires, felt alot more power, but no help in gas milage, atleast nothing noticable. it has a vortec 5.3 with 72,000 miles on it.

I get 18.5 combined and 21.5 on the highway. With the superchips tuner my highway MPG will drop to 20.5. I have been using various hypermiling techniques and hope to increase my combined MPG even more. 2006 Silverado, ext Cab,4x2,5.3,3.23gears,AEM intake,JBL exhaust,Superchips tuner
