350 recently overheated now is missing whats the problem?

I have a 1985 chevy 3500 that recently overheated. Now I noticed the temperature gauge is not working. Also the truck starts up fine but feels like it is running on 6 cylinders. Does it need a thermostat? Did it blow a head gasket? Any help would be appreciated.

It would be a little bit easier if you told us more info on the truck. Like motor, mileage, has it ever been rebuilt, what happened when it overheated, did anything break, what have you replaced on it to fix the overheating. I'm guessing its carbuerated?? If it's a blown head gasket your probably gonna have water in the oil.

It is a 1985 chevy 3500 with 5.7L 350. It is carbuerated. It has 130 K on it and i'm not sure if it was ever rebuilt. When it overheated the heater hose ruptured and I fixed that. I also replaced the thermostat. I think I ruled out it being the head gasket because there isn't any water in the oil or anything. After i fixed the hose and put in a new thermostat I took it for a ride and it still has a miss. I checked the spark plugs which appear ok.

If the hose ruptured, that means coolant went everywhere right? Hows the distributor looking? Coil? No corrosion on any of that stuff right? Is there any computer **** on the motor at all? Or is it straight up carbuerated? Is the truck actually miss firing, or does it just feel severly bogged down?

Like jmack said maybe some coolant got in the distributor. Or could have gotten in and damaged one of your spark plug wires. It has to be moisture being somewhere you dont want it. Only other possibility is the excess heat killed a plug. It cant hurt to replace them with your mileage.
