Hopefully someone can help me.  I just bought an 84 Silverado....K10 I assume.  It has a 350 V8 and I'd like to replace the starter solenoid.  But when I bought one at the auto parts store, it didn't match up to the plunger in the starter.  The outside geometry seems ok, but the receiving orifice in the solenoid is too small for the starter plunger.  Anyone else run into this?  Thanks

Just as an update for posterity....I took the solenoid back to the autoparts store this morning and explained the problem.  They could find nothing wrong in their computer system, they tried different models, years, engine sizes.....nothing.  The same solenoid is used on everything.  But....since a new starter, complete with a solenoid only cost $44....I figured that I'd just save a bunch of time and headaches and get the whole assembly.

Funny thing is...The new starter looks exactly like the old starter and has the solenoid that won't fit on my old starter.  I don't get it....but for 44 dollars...who cares.

Maybe the starter was previously rebuilt with a few parts that "will work but aren't the right ones"
