I gave blood for the first time today. In fact, about an hour ago... I was really nervous for a while and then it was a whole lot of nothing. Wasn't uneventful though. I had to set down with one of my friends after I gave blood and hold her head for her..lol She passed out twice on me and I had to sit there and stuff cheez-its in her mouth for about 15 minutes. I'm still slightly light-headed, but even on an empty stomach I was fine. If you haven't given blood at all or are scared to, its really not bad at all. Its really a good and rewarding experience. The phlebotomists were nice and very skilled, so they didn't have to go digging on anyone. If you are afriad you will pass out, as long as you pass out sitting or laying down, you will be fine. lol Do your part to save a life!!!

I couldn''t agree more! I am a regular donor, and I give every time I can. I''m kind of a big guy, so I always get asked to give double platelets which is a more thorough process, but is very needed. They have a hard time finding people to meet the requirements for Double Platelets, So if there are any more big guys out there, go do your part!

I tried... They wouldn''t take me, said my iron was too high. Oh well.
