Door locking

Chas1955 -> Door locking (5/16/2008 1:38:27 PM)

    I drive a clean up truck for a race track that host NASCAR races. We always get new Chevy trucks 1500 or 2500's One problem we have is the door locks! Can we disable them so the doors remain unlocked all the times? It would save time & mabey someones life getting back in the truck on a hot track. What you ask is a clean up truck, we are the guys & gals that go out & pick up pieces & parts of wrecked race cars & trucks while the track is hot. We also spread kitty litter on oil, & tell alot of lies at the end of the day!

I don't know exactly what you need to do, but here is the link to the owners manuals.

We have rear the manual I own a 2007 Silverado. We don't need the door locks to lock in gear or at 15? MPH We need to over ride the system so they don't lock at all! Pull a fuse we tried reading the manual (2005?) you could disable them We need to keep them unlocked so people can get in with out someone unlock the doors. Speed is necessary.

Yea I can't find anything to keep them from locking at all. I also chased down my cousin who drives the same truck as you and played with his settings but couldn't find anything.. Sorry.

Maybe call GM and tell them what you do, they should be more then happy to help keep your guys from getting hit.

Just a guess, but could you not take the door pannels off and unplug the silinoid (sp) that locks the doors?  But after doing that the only way to lock it would to manually always do it.

Good idea, but I would rather unplug the wiring harness if we could find it!

Thanks all

just unplug the fuse for teh door locks.

The only way to d\c the lock actuator without pulling the door skin off would be to cut the the at both door modules. You could pull the plug from the door modules, but you would end up setting codes and have a bunch of different things happen.

If you pop up the door lock switch from the armrest, (this whole unit is called the drivers door module), there will be a brown connector on the bottom. It'll have a tan wire in position 7, cut this wire, but leave enough wire so you can re-connect it if you want to. That will disable the drivers dor lock actuator. To do the passenger side, pop up the switches from that door, and in the Lt BLue connector, there will be a tan wire in position 7, cut it and now both front doors should not lock or unlock unless you physically lock them.

& for the rear doors??? Which wires? Now all I have to do is convince the track to let me do it Thanks
