I have before. I had the same problem. If you are handy with a soldering iron, then its not too bad. It takes very small 12volt lamps. I think there were 10 of them. The ones I used came two in a pack for 1.99 at Radio shack. They were a little smaller than the factory lamps but they still work good. I did this about 4 years ago on my 95 silverado and they still light up. I have the factory cd changer and i didn't want to attract any thieves by installing a aftermarket deck. You have to get the radio out of the dash, remove the knobs, then remove the face. Then you unscrew the face circuit board to access the bulbs. you should be able to figure it out. The Bulbs are soldered in there. All i did was heat up the leads to the burnt out bulbs, pull them out, slip in the leads to the new bulbs in and melt the existing solder to connect them. It took me about an hour to do the whole job.
