DixieD -> 305 to 383 (5/5/2008 11:41:07 PM)

Hello all. I'm new here and lookin for some info. I'm driving a 1988 Caprice, and I'm about to have a 383 put in (from a stock 305). I am no pro, but I am pretty sure I have a 1 piece rear seal (I think that started in 87), but I'm not sure if I have a 2 or 4 bolt main block. Does anyone know? Is there an easy way I can find out? Honestly, I'm not even sure what to look for. Thanks in advance for your time and help.

Well glad you got your anwser if you get the casting number on the back drivers side of the block you can use this web site http://www.mortec.com/castnum.htm to look up the number and it should say wheather it is 2 or 4 bolt main
