Hi everybody. I'm new here and came get your advice on what maintenance items I should do immediately to the truck I bought today. I know the list of what I should ideally do is probably longer than I can afford, so I was hoping you guys could help me with the most important things I should do now. It's a 1995 1500 W/T, 4.3L V6, with 197,000 miles.

This is what I know about it:
automatic trans, was rebuilt 40k miles ago
new plugs 40k miles ago
seems to run a little unevenly when cruising/accelerating
seems to shift a little hard (but I'm not an expert)
think it might have an exhaust leak somewhere before the muffler
brake pedal can be pushed to floor while idling, but it seems to stop the truck fine while moving

This is what I had planned to do. Please advise:
Change oil
change plugs
change plug wires
pour can of fuel treatment in gas tank
change fuel filter
at Express Lube, have transmission flushed
clean engine with cans of engine cleaner foam

Should I also:
have radiator flushed
have brake system flushed
EGR valve
change rear diff oil
anything else?

Thanks for your help.

Welcome to the forum!!! Everything on you "to do list" probably should be done and are fairly simple to do. The plugs are easy but the wires are a pain (at least they were on my 5.7) mainly because the distributer is on the back of the engine and routing them so they don't cross. you may want to add "change the PCV valve" to your list. for your "Should I also" list;

have radiator flushed = flush it
have brake system flushed = if works don't touch it
EGR valve = not sure
change rear diff oil = change it

P.S. Get some pics up, I would love to see the truck

Thanks a lot. I'll be back with a few questions I have after I get into the processes.
