numbers matching car... what do I do to find out where these numbers are? numbers on the engine matching numbers on the vin or what?

Welcome to the forum! Front of the engine block, drivers side of the transmission, on the firewall, doorjamb, and some cars may have the number in the trunk. If all those numbers match, then the car is completely matched up.

Welcome to the Chevrolet Forum. Best bet is to find a Chevelle organization that does judging like the NCRS for Corvettes. They can tell you exactly what to look for. Of course there are the shady characters that do restamps so be very, very careful.
