low coolant light

cbr600rrnut -> low coolant light (5/3/2008 6:25:22 AM)

Hi

99 Monte Carlo has the low coolant light on and won'r go out. The coolant level is OK in the rad as well as the overflow tank. First off where is the sensor located? Secondly is there a proper test procedure electrically?

Thanks in advance

You may have to get the codes cleared before it will go off.

I think there is a sensor on the side of the radiator and I have read that they can go bad if they aren't cleaned or replaced.  Just a thought.

Sensor is in the rad and there is a quick way of testing it. Turn the ign off, unplug the sensor. Turn the Ign to the run position, and see if the light goes out. If it does, you need a new sensor, Or you may be able to clean it up. The the light stays on, check to see if the yellow\black wire is grounded. you may have a short on that circuit. If there is no short, then you need a new instrument panel cluster
