RE: Dexcool and nylon/silicone lower intake manifold gasket

I read the labels on several makers of the 5 year coolant, and they all claimed to be compatible with any color coolant.   The SuperTech antifreeze label could have been written by Prestone 5 year coolant for all I know, because it had all the exact same information, right down to ingredients, protection levels, mixing instructions and ASTM tests.  I understand from other websites that specialize in oil filters, that SuperTech is manufactured by Champion and is made with the components of preferred filters.  I have always had good luck with the oil as far as I know, so I took a chance on their antifreeze as well.  It was a few dollars savings and besides, with 81,000 miles on my car I probably will get rid of it next year sometime.

So yes, reading the labels of several makers shows me they are all compatible with any color coolant (DexCool has the same ingredients as theirs) nowadays, which is something they weren't a few years back.

when i got my truck i put some prestone in just to make sure i knew all teh fluid levels. that stuff works. i was mad because i had put some red line water wetter and then ended up having another radiator flush from my accident. my radiator wasnt cracked but they had to take it off to put on a new support. i was sad. but im going to do another flush because im not going to risk my gasket. screw that i dont have other transportation hehe

I had a 98 malibu with dexcool and first the intake gasket leaked on me, once I fixed it the head gasket went. I was mad at the whole dexcool thing but it was my fault because if you carefully read the owners manual it clearly states under the maint. section to replace intake gaskets at 75k miles.
