Just got 07 2500HD. Need to remove/overide the switch thay allows DRL to be turned off on US model. Can a Canadian MODEL headlight switch be used or is this done by program? I have had 9 new Chevy trucks since 77 and this is the best. please advise what can be done .Thanks

Are you looking to disable the DRLs?

You need to have the BCM reprogrammed. But unless you are with the FBI,CIA, Local PD etc, then you're SOL. In order to get the new software for the BCM, technicians must call GM to get them to release it. Unless you meet some requirements, they won't release it.

Requests for DRL/auto headlamp disconnects must be made by appropriate agencies. The vehicle in question must be owned by a law enforcement agency, military agency or security company. (City/State, Sheriff, FBI, CIA, DEA, Emergency Vehicles.Etc.) It is recommended the dealership obtain a letter on the agencies letterhead requesting the DRLS/auto headlamps be disabled. The letter should contain the specific vehicle identification number which will be disabled, and a statement which reads, "the DRL/auto headlamp system will be made fully operational prior to disposal/sale of the vehicle." the letter should be kept in the vehicle service file at the dealership.

NO Iwant to make them so they can not be turned off. Us models allow this while Canadain are always on.I need them always on.

Welcome to the forum!!! Then just leave the switch on. Are you wanting to have them on while your headlights are on?

Heres the deal. In Canada we are required to have DRL that CAN NOT be turned off. I need to pass a one time federal inspection of a truck made in Pontiac Michigan. After that it does not matter. I will run with them on, but regulations say they must not be able to be turned off or deactvated. How do I pass the inspection? Can I just put on a north of 49 switch , CAN THE ORIGINAL SWITCH BE REPROGRAMED TO  ignore the turn off function? Thanks

sounds like a ligetament excuse to get it programmed, but if nothing else, you can just hardwire the DRLs in.  or bring it to a local auto electronics place that puts in security or remote starting systems and they should be able to help ya out

I'm sure the dealer can reprogram the BCM to get them working

Attention CANADIANS Before you go for the federal inspection cut the green wire in location # 3  in the connection block to the head lamp switch. It comes out with no tools. This will leave the DRL on with no ability to turn them off while in gear.. Reconnect after you leave Canadian Tire  or leave it. Canadain Tire will not pass the vehicle if rhe DRL can be switched off.
