yet another overheated blazer 98 4x4 basically my girl never noticed the guage. now i have a choice to have the head removed and machined and repace the w/p and hope that theres no piston damage or just go replace the motor. the cylinders are running at 30% any suggestions

take it apart and assess the situation from there. See if the block or heads where crack etc.  When you plain the heads, get them to do a pressure test on each cylinder. They usually do anyways, but make a point of telling them to do it

they did a compression check and 2 out of the six were reading 30 the rest were around 100. got a quote for a install and used motor 2500. or i bring them a motor 1500. keep it updated on the damage.

What i meant was have the machine shop pressure test the heads when you take them in for plaining. They can find cracks in the head that the normal person wouldn't see.

The 2 cylinders that were bad.....were they side by side? If so you're more than likely looking at a broken head gasket between the 2 cylinders.
