What is your line of work?

EuroGoldLS -> What is your line of work? (4/24/2008 2:45:17 PM)

What does everyone do for a living?

I build duct for Evans Heating and A/C. I start school in the fall to get my degree in 'Heating, Ventilation, Air conditioning and Refrigeration' so I can legally service a/c units.

yeah.. my line of work is interesting, but people who are clautrophobic and arachniaphobic wouldn't like it too much [;)] A lot of crawling under houses!

Hope your schooling goes good. Thats what I was originally planning to do, but I'm back on HVAC because the business is already there and I'm 100% guaranteed to have a job throughout school and after school.

Curently attending school to get a BS ('bachelors of science' not the other thing your thinking[:D]) degree with a major in construction management and a minor in business. When I am not attending school I work as capenter/cabinet maker.

Here was the latest cabinet project for my uncle.

I guess I am a senior of the bunch!   I spent my entire working life in corporate life in research and product development.  I helped make the Pringles container we all buy today way back in the late 70's.  I also worked on perfecting a fireproofing cement for steel used in skyscrapers.  I moved on later to the Seven Up Company's World Packaging and Technical Center where I supervised a packaging laboratory.  After they moved to Texas I worked developing plastic medical devices, then went to an aluminum can manufacturer where I was the technical representative for 11 years visiting beer and soda plants throughout the midwest.  When the company let go most of their technical reps in the nineties, I got on with a manufacturer of inexpensive cameras and had to travel to China to oversee their making.   My local office was closed by the parent company in New York and I did some temporary work for Burger King Corporate where they flew me down to their Miami headquarters to study some new ovens they built and wanted me to be their rep. at a plant that was going to make hundreds of them.

There you have it.  For the present I sit on my back deck and read the posts and managing my investments since I am involuntarily retired.   Sorry, but you asked.

That actually sounds like a very fun and involved occupation. So I'm guessing that involuntarily retiring means laid off with a fat severance?

I am currently a student in college going for a duel major (both bachelors degrees) in Fire/Arson Investigation and Fire Administration and a minor in Criminal Justice. I also work part time for an Auto Parts Store
