avoyager -> front wheel scraping and clunking (4/20/2008 8:09:00 PM)
|
2003 chevy venture, replaced wheel hub 2 weeks ago after it started humming. This fixed the problem. Now getting scraping sound in slow forward (under 10mph), but it disappears as speed increases. No change in scraping sound when brake is applied. Brake pads are good. Now for the stranger part... when I put it in reverse and go very slow, 2-5mph, it sounds like a clunking sound. I'm not driving it. I torqued the wheel hub to 118 ft lbs, but that sure seemed light while using a loaner torque wrench from autozone. I couldn't get over how easy it was to "click" the torque wrench at 118 ft lbs. Wondering if re-torquing the hub nut using a different torque wrench may be the solution? Did I ruin this hub if it turns out I ran it for several weeks at too light a setting? I did not retry the 12/6 oclock push-pull test yet. Thanks for any advice.
