2001 Suburban LT 1500...the Service Engine Soon light keeps coming on and occassionally shuts off. Computer test shows a evac code and mechanic said 99% are gas cap related. I got new gas cap, reset code. This last for about 3 weeks then the light comes on again. Still gas cap or other issue? Any way to reset light on your own? One service center said that the light could indicate more than 200 things and that if the truck is still running fine, to not worry about it! Ideas?

You can reset the computer by disconnecting the battery or pulling the computer fuses for a min or 2. I would suggest 5 just to be sure. On newer cars not sure about all, if you don't have the gas cap tight it will make your engine light come on. Other than that it is just trouble shooting all the possibilites of that code.
