I starting my 2004 Z71 truck this morning and noticed it was in 4-Lo.  I tried shifting to 4-hi, but the light just keep blinking and blinking.  Instead of shutting off the truck, I put it in drive while the light was still blinking.  I heard a expensive sounding grinding noise when I did this.  What did I do to my transmission.  I am having it towed to the dealer today.  Any ideas on why the truck was in 4-Lo?
Thanks,

I'm pretty sure your supposed to put the transmission in neutral to shift into and out of 4L.  There should be a description of that in your owners manual.  Sorry I can't help you with the question of how much damage you did (if any) or how it got into 4L in the first place.

I had the switch on my tranny go bad that would not let my truck change from 2 to 4 so hopefully it is just an electrical issue.  That should be under warranty right?
