I did this inexpensive mod several weeks ago on a 2006 Cobalt LS Sedan and everything has been working correctly since that time. I had decided to install LED lights to replace the three bulbs in the Center High Mounted Stop Lamp (CHMSL) also called the third brake light. Unfortunately, even after spending a considerable amount of time researching LED bulbs the replacement LED's that I ordered did not fit. Since I had already removed the bulbs for the third brake light I replaced the three 912 bulbs with three 912LL bulbs that have double the life of the standard bulbs. At this point I just decided to use brighter conventional bulbs for the two brake lights (not the third brake light). I replaced the 3057K (also called 3057LL) bulbs with 3457LL bulbs which are 50% brighter when they are in the parking lamp mode and 25% brighter when they are in brake lamp mode. The new bulbs came in a pack of two at Wal-Mart and the cost was $4.99 plus tax. It took about five minutes to complete this. I have before and after pictures that I can upload. Does anyone know how to post pictures? Also, the brighter 3457 bulbs do have a shorter life so be sure to use the Long Life version which is either 3457LL or 3457K. This mod was easy and inexpensive and I have not had any problems but if you try this on your car you do so at your own risk.
