I own a 2000 s-10 ls. I have recently noticed that the brake lights will stay on even when i turn off the ignition. This only applies to the 2 main tail lights. The 3rd light above the cab works fine though. turn signals and reverse lights also are fine. As soon as i touch the brake pedal, the brake lights come on then stay on. I have to remove the fuse to get them to shut off. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it an expensive fix?

Check the switch at the brake pedal.

Try wiggling the turn signal switch a bit, also, make sure the Hazard switch isn't partially depressed.

Had the same exact problem on my ''98. It is the headlight relay under the hood in the fuse block. To check it, just switch it out with another in the block. Good luck.
