I'm looking into getting a 2000 Blazer Zr2. Not sure if i am getting it, but i was curious what the Zr2 meant(how is it different from a normal one). and i was also curious of all you owning a 91-03 blazer owners what kinda gas milage you getting out of yours and the towing capabilities. I have a suburban, but i am 16 and my minimum wage job can't pay the gas now. I can't make it paycheck to paycheck. so i am looking to buy a car before my bank account runs out of money. I have around 5500 dollars.  I was wondering about your experiences with this vehicle the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Thank you in advanced,

Trey Splane

Moved the post to the S-10 section because Blazers are on the s-10 platform.

Firstly, if you are going with a Blazer over a Suburban for better fuel economy, you aren't stepping up much unless you get a 2wd. I get 17 mpg city and 23 highway with mine and thats with a CAI and aftermarket exhaust system. I've heard of some people, albeit with bigger tires, getting even worse mileage.

As far as reliability goes, its like with any vehicle, they way it will hold up depends largely on how the previous owner maintained it and what problems he patched but didn't address properly.

ZR2 is an off-roading package that features a higher trim level, a different gear ratio, and a rear wheelbase equivalent to the front.

  • Larger wheel and axle bearings
  • 31 x 10.50" BFG A/T Tires (Pickup), 31 x 10.50" BFG Longtrails (Blazer)
  • Fender Flares
    • Spectra Gray on the Chevrolet Models, despite body color. Body color on all GMC Models.

  • 46mm gas pressurized Bilstein Monotube shocks
  • Rear Track Bar (Pickup), Front Anti-Sway Bar (Blazer)
  • Skid Plates
  • Front/Rear Disc brakes (1998-2005) , Disc/Drum brakes (1994-1997)
