mackiecfx16 -> 1998 suburban ac problems, any solutions? (4/15/2008 9:42:11 AM)

ok well i had no control of the air way in my 1998 suburban 1500. By that i mean i couldn't change the air flow from face vents to defrost or floor vents and the air wasn't that cold in the front but in the back the rear ac works great. so i first thought ok just put for refridgerant in it,so i did and no results except the rear ac got colder.When i finally i figured that i couldn't control the air flow i replaced the air duct actuator. still no results

any ideas? anyone? please... it would be much appriciated.

i live in florida so having no AC isn't a solution that i can deal with

I have a 98 Suburban and the way I understand it, when the refrigerant is low, the front ac will stop functioning first while the rear ac blows cold. If you have too much oil in the system, the ac will not blow as cold as it should. If you do not have the equipment, I would suggest taking it in and having the system evacuated and recharged.

As for the airflow, I have not had that issue with my 98, but in my 85, I had the same issue. There a vacuum leak caused the problem. That actuator was vacuum driven.
