I am only getting about 14 mpg city driving. Any idea's how to improve that. Cause I also have a 05 tahoe and it gets about the same. At 3.30 a gallon gas... It about kills me... So any ideas how to improve this... It is all stock...

ok I got the 5.3 with 3.73 rear end. and it has about 7500 miles on it... It is 4wd I know that will hurt a little... but most of my trips are short lived I live 6 blocks from work. I probably average about 300 miles a week... I also have 18 inch tires and with a longer trip 130 mile round trip it went up to 14.5 mpg... LOL...

Hate to say it, but since you drive a truck, that's what you'll get. Especially on short trips. I get 17 on my 18 mile commute

rstitt, I have about the same setup with similar milage, 2wd and 20" and get the same as you do.

I'm thinking that it might improve slightly with more miles, but have resigned myself to dealing with it.  I didnt' expect much in the way of mpg in a truck going in, but wish that it got closer to advertised.

I have the 6.0 with 3:73s and 17" 265 tires. Live in the country with very little city driving, but, also very little freeway driving.  Computer says 14.5 for 5500 miles.  Most trips are at least 10 miles each way.  Had a 2003 with the 5.3 and averaged about 15.2 for same type of driving.  I think that is pretty good for a truck.

I do about 60% highway on my daily commute and average about 17 mpg on a 80 mile round trip.  I have 3.73 and 20" factory rims.
