I had the same problem. It was the nerf bars. Had to adjust them a little and it went away. I have a clunk from the tranny or rear end though that GM cant seem to fix.

Thanks Matador...what was the adjustment to the bars? The dealer had some info about a bracket change.

Actually I had bought these bars at a rummage sale for 15 bucks and I had to make the brackets and one of them rubbed just a tad. You cant believe how much noise a little bit of frame movement can make when it barely rubs on the support bracket that I had made. I took a grinder and shaved it a hair and it was perfect after wards, no noise what so ever. You may just need to grease the rubber a little or something. I have heard of them making noise too. It doesnt take much movement in to cause it.

Matador, have you had your dealer lubricate the splines on the output shaft? The yoke on mine was binding during hard to moderate braking causing a clunking and popping noise. I have talked to a couple of new owners that have had that problem.

JLM6740, Yes I had it grease once but its still doing it and maybe getting worse. And I was running it in auto 4wd and when it starting off from a dead stop, I felt and heard gear noise that went away after a second or two of aceleration.
