you rock man

There is a 20 amp fuse on the amp itself, plus I have an inline 20 amp fuse I plan on using on the power wire itself.

seriously, thank you.

well, all was going good until I went to hook up the power wire. I found the wires as you described - hooked up my new ones at the fuse box - ran them, then hooked up the amp.

I hooked up the ground first, then accessory, and when I went to hook up the power wire I lit up my inline fuse... as soon as I touched it to the amp. I double checked everything, no exposed wires, no crossed wires, no loose connections. The only thing I could think of is my ground sucks (I hooked it up to one of the bolts sticking out of the body with one of those black plastic round things stuck on it holding the liner in). But even with no ground it should be an incomplete circuit, thus NOT blowing my fuse.

Just in case I blow the 60 under the hood, where is that located?

oh yeah, and what systems power am I tapping into on that wire?

got it! it was a bad ground wire, went and got some new fuses and moved the ground to one of the bolts holding the seat in, works great, sounds great.

Thank you, definately couldnt have done it without your help. I managed to install new speakers and an amp without hacking into one single factory wire. I could remove it tomorrow and put the old speakers in and nobody would ever know :D

good to hear you got it covered. The wire you tapped into does a lot of your power accessories, seats, mirrors, rear defrost, heated seats etc., And the fuse is #22 labeled REBC1
