I have my Tahoe going into service tomorrow for a non related issue, but I would like to discuss this issue with them and have a little knowledge of what the steering problem might be.  I searched the forum for over an hour and didnt see much.

I am on my Second 2007 Tahoe, this one has had a lot of issues compared to the first one.

My tahoe steering has felt very strange since I picked it up 3 months ago with 15k miles on it.  Almost like it is loose!  My daily driver (99 ford escort) has a tighter feel.  Almost like there is slack when I am turning.  Every once in a while, while backing up, or moving very slowly it feels like it jerks/bumps/pops.  I know that something is wrong and I want it corrected as I have no idea what it is or the dangers of it.

When I first got this Tahoe I took it in for the E85 update and I mentioned this issue.  They said they "looked" it over and didnt see anything wrong.  Well I know for a fact it isnt normal, my last Tahoe didnt have this issue.  I dont like that it feels like it slips or pops.  Every once in a while I think I actually hear it pop, but that could be my imaging the noise.

The popping/slipping is really only noticable while parked, or moving in reverse/forward at slow speeds.  I feel this in the wheel itself, with my hands on the wheel.  I dont think it is noticable except through the wheel.  However, the steering feels loose or like it has slack at all times.

I want to take it in and get this corrected but I know the dealership will say, this is normal, there is nothing wrong.  Well i know something is up, and I dont want it to get any worse.  It is bothersome.

Generally this is easily fixed by replacing the power steering inlet hose assembly with P/N 25858603.
Have the dealer reference GM Document ID #2083632

Thanks for the quick response Dave.  I will see what they say.  When I first took it in they said they checked it over and didnt see any problems.  Well I know there is something wrong because this is my second 07.  It probably feels great compared to service techs 1978 chevrlolet they are comparing it to.

Anyways, thanks again and i will see what they say.

I forgot to mention I was thinking it was something like tie rod ends, never would have though the steering inlet hose assembly would be the fix.  However, i also dont know what exactly the inlet hose assembly does.

That and the muffler bearing always kept me guessing.
