Shortly after start-up ABS pump cycles and ABS dash light comes on and stays on.  No longer have ABS capabilities...  Checked front sensors and are clean.  Haynes Repair Manual says to check resistance and refer to specifications listed in manual but fails to actually have the specifications listed(not very helpful).  Does anyone know what the resistance should be?  Or any other suggestions as to what the problem could be?  Also where exaclty is the rear ABS sensor on a 99 S10 4x4?
Any help is appreciated!!

The rear abs sensor is non existant. The signal originates from the VSS. The PCM receives a speed signal from the vss, and sends a signal to the ABS module for rear wheel speed.

As far as resistance is concerned, I found this.....

WSS Temperature vs. Sensor Resistance (S-pickup)

°C                                °F                                    Ohms

-40 to 4                   -40 to 40                            3915 to 5820

5 to 43                     41 to 110                            4769 to 6800

44 to 93                   111 to 200                           5560 to 8040

94 to 150                 201 to 302                            6600 to 9416

Thanks for the chart, that is better than the Haynes manual offered.  Lets hope I just have a bad sensor.

Is it common for the Vehicle Speed Sensor to go bad, and/or could that be causing the problem?

if your speedo is working then most likely no. If you don't turn up a bad sensor, it might be worth it to have the code scanned to see what the problem is exactly. Could be something as simple as a fuse or chaffed wire.
