tps problem?

xx13xx -> tps problem? (3/25/2008 2:36:41 AM)

having a problem with no starts on my 2000 4.8l w/ 99k miles, i just replaced my tps because when i would disconnect the relay to the tps and reconnect it the truck would go from idling at 500rpm to around 700rpm and start with no problems. but when i turn the truck off and start it back up it would go back to idling at 500rpm. truck is warmed and fuel pump is good. only thing i haven't checked yet is the fuel pressure regulator but i am gonna do that shortly.  now i just replaced the tps because i thought it was giving a faulty signal to the truck and making the computer think truck was warm so it wouldn't add enough fuel for start...when truck does eventually fire up it will idle very low, almost die and  i have to give it some gas to get it going. sorry if this question is a bit scattered its late....any help is appreciated

well after reading on this forum all last night i narrowed down my problem to my fpr....so i popped a new one in today and my hard starts and generally truck bitchiness is over....but yeah i guess the tps was good the whole time.

well it started hard starting again tonight....so i am thinking maybe i will do the plugs...i don't know only thing i can think of is maybe injectors not pulsing right....i got about 4 big bottles of techron running through right now so i could be that

If after you run the techron through it and you feel that the injectors still need help then run some BG 44X throught it. Extreme stuff and its cat safe.

Injector could be bad or clogged.

i am thinking i might have a bad injector cause it just started throwing up multiple misfire codes and idling all weird....i guess once you introduce new parts in the system everything gets all screwed up

When you disconnect the tps relay it could have a effect on the IAC position causing the idle to increase. The IAC is suppose to reset itself after shuting the engine down in preperation for the next restart, dirty IAC pin needles and bores can cause idle fluxuation.

As far a no start problems that will usually be caused by the following as I would rate them. 1. a bad CPS, 2. a Clogged Cat. 3. fuel related issues and then some form of electronic problems like a bad coil pack. These are just a few of the common sources I've seen on other vehicles.
