GM does not recommend roof racks for the Hybrid Tahoe/Yukon. I know that a lot of engineering work was done to maximize aerodynamics and minimize weight, but isn't this a little ridiculous? The primary logic for owning this vehicle is towing ability, but I would like to take a kayak or longboard to the beach sometime and recognize that this will cost us some fuel economy.

I know aerodynamic changes for the hybrid included sharpening the D-pillar to the rear and there is a spoiler over the rear hatch. Did these changes make the roof different enough that GM roof racks for the regular models cannot be installed?

Does anyone know what if any modifications are necessary to install the regular factory roof rack that comes on the standard model Tahoe's?
