Hi, I have just purchased a 2005 Z-71.  It has 285/70-17 tires on 10" aftermark rims.  The truck is 19 1/2" off the ground measured from the bottom of driver door to ground.  Other Chev extended cabs are about 17 1/2".  I compared the 285/70-17 to the original 265/70-17 tires and there is only about 1" difference in diameter, meaning that the larger tires should only raise the truck up 1/2" higher.  Any thoughts as to why this truck is 2" higher or is it standard on the Z-71?

4x's are slightly higher than 2wd so if that is what you are measuring that might be the difference.  But if you are measuring other 4x's the extra height might be from the z-71 suspension but I didnt think it was an extra 1 1/2".  If the guy had larger tires maybe he did a leveling kit in the front which would probabaly give 1 1/2 - 2" height.  I would measure mine for you but I already lifted mine so it wouldnt help.  Let us know what you find out.

I have a feeling that if the other tires were mudding tires that the PSI in the tires were really low and that would make a big difference.

could be like ehhget said, a 2" leveling kit upfront. but not all tire brands measure the same. my factory 265/70/17 only measure 29.9" and new duelers measure 30.7 (measured with a tape line) so that could be some of the height difference too. plus chevys sit way to low for trucks, any height increase is good
