Hello: I to am trying to install a GM Nav. unit in my 2008 GMC Sierra. I came without the Bose system. Here is a link I found that will help, GM Nav Install Guide My $#@% dealer cannot remove the Theft Lock message so still no sound but the install is done! Thanks and good luck. Mike....tell the dealer to connect the Tech2, build the vehicle as a 2006, cheverolet, W Body, Monte Carlo LTZ, select body & accessories, Entertainment, Module setup, Radio, VIN Relearn This should unlock the radio and make it work for you

Unlocking the theft lock by tricking the radio into thinking it is in a 06 monte carlo. Will unlock radio, but you will not have any of the vehicle cabin eq setting for a pickup. You also run the risk of not getting any sound from the audio (amp or bose lux amp). The audio will only work if vehicle is non amplified, just not enough bass output. To make it sound right you need to connect it to GM tech 2 with candi module and as a pass-thru with gm tis-2-web. build the vehicle correctly, according to the build code in glove box. I think gm requires the techs to call GM VIS to get a VIS number. The Navigation calibration is no longer supported as an option with out a VIS.

Accually there is a current TSB on these trucks from GM to unlock the radios this way. Using Pass-Through Programming does not work to unlock these radios. Calling Engineering to get a VCI Number is ludacris as it usually takes a couple hours to get them to build software. Not only that but they will probably tell you to stop wasting their time and just use TIS2WEB I have done about 10 of these in the passed year and have yet to have a problem doing it this way

I reprogramed one on Monday May 19, 2008. Gm no longer has Navigation calibration on TIS2WEB. Good luck.
