how hard is it to get to the stock bose sub and amp in a 03 silverado. im thinking of upgrading but want to do it myself any help is apprediated thanks

Its not hard to do it yourself. If you want to bypass the amp and sub, leave the amp where its at, dont try and remove the amp or the wiring. I cant remember if the sub is in the console or under the backseat. If its in the console, leave it there, if its under the backseat, cut the wires, undo the bolts and take it out. This excerpt is from a thread I posted in a while back ago with someone asking the same question: "You can get the parts at any car audio shop, but these specific parts must be ordered on www.logjamelectronics.com You need a "Line Output Converter." It basically takes audio signal from speaker wires and converts it into RCA signal for amps. These parts are for two channel amps. If you search the site, you can find converters for four channel amps. Both parts are for an 03 Silverado. First, if you have a factory Bose system, you need part# PAC AOEM-GM24, its $50 and provides an amp trigger wire or remote turn on for your amp as well as the RCA connections and is "plug and play" directly into the factory harness. No cutting, no splicing, no headache. " There you have it. Order the part, plug it in, and your almost done. Buy a good set of RCA cables, you get what you pay for, I suggest Monster cable or Rockford Fosgate RCA's. Plug the RCA's into the back of the Line output converter and run them down one side of your vehicle. Take your red power wire(guage size depends on how many watts you plan on running, the more watts, the smaller the guage) and your blue remote wire and run them down the opposite side of the vehicle. The remote wire splices into the amp trigger wire coming off the Line output converter, its the only wire without a plug attached to it. Attach the power wire to the positive on your amp, blue wire to the remote turn on, and black wire goes to the ground on amp and to a solid grounding point on truck. Make sure its metal to metal contact. Scrape anything away from the paint where your going to place the ground. A bad ground can cause lots of problems. Check out www.subthump.com for a custom prefab boxe for your truck. Mount the amp. Wire the speaker, and your done! 2 hrs max. PM me if you need help with your install. Oh and make sure you get a shallow mount sub for that under the seat box. Ive only heard of three companies making them so far, Rockford Punch Stage 3, Pioneer Premier, and JL Audio. I got my Rockford from www.crutchfield.com Before you buy your sub and amp let me know how much cash youve got to work with and ill email you a wiring diagram to maximize the RMS watts for your money. Theres more out there than just plain ol stereo mode positive to positive and negative to negative.We can do parellel or series 2, 4 or 8 ohm DVC's, 1 or 2 ohm stable amps. You tell me what you want to accomplish, and Ill tell you how to wire it.
